Congratulations to
Starr Grimes,
our 2019/2020 food service
“School Related Employee of
the Year Winner!”
During her tenure with the food service department she
has served in positions including food service worker and food service manager
reigning over both elementary and secondary schools. She is now manager at
Navarre High School, which is where she began her adventures with the food
service department eleven years ago. She has now come full circle.
When we think of Starr Grimes we
think of an outstanding manager, a kindhearted woman, and strong willed.
Don’t let her size fool you; she has a gentle
demeanor with a drive for excellence.
Starr eagerly takes on challenging locations,
and continually puts her students first.
She is dedicated, to the students she serves
daily, to the staff she oversees, and to her family and friends. Starr is
honest, passionate, intelligent, and friendly, while still empowering her team.
The list of positive adjectives is never
ending. During
her tenure at OBE, she encouraged her students to participate in our Future Chef
Challenge culminating in that year’s grand prize winner. It has been a pleasure
to witness Starr grow in her positions within the food service department.
As a wife, mother of five, and
grandmother of two, Starr is very busy woman.
Starr still finds time to volunteer her time
with our local School Nutrition Association chapter.
Starr’s’ volunteer efforts benefit other
members of our association and provides professional development opportunities
for our members.
Starr is currently serving as President of our
local School Nutrition Association; she has been a member of the local and state
School Nutrition Association for her entire tenure with the food service
department, and even participated in our Legislative Action days to support our
industry. She
has received multiple
awards over the years including Super School Award for her participation in the
National School Lunch Week event.
If anyone is deserving of this award, it is
Starr Grimes. We are proud to have her as a leader, a team member and more
importantly as a “Friend”.
