Building students’ love for
school at a young age is crucial in developing life-long learners even for those
students who have special needs and challenges. This nominee devotes her time to
assisting in teaching some of our most challenging students and provides support
with their behavioral struggles. Although this can be a challenging task, this
nominee looks at each day as a labor of love. Her dedication and commitment to
children reflects in all she does whether it’s assisting a special needs student
safely to the classroom or teaching a student in reading group.
This nominee strives to make a difference in
children’s lives each day. She’s driven to learn new strategies that impact
student learning and improve their behavioral challenges. She participates in
trainings for delivering explicit reading instruction to help students learn to
read. She has been trained in sign language to communicate with some of our
non-verbal students. This nominee also participates in community service
projects such as Relay for Life, Florida Disaster Relief for Hurricane Michael
victims, Caring and Sharing Food Drive, Angel Tree, United Way Penny drive and
many more community outreach projects. This nominee has a great rapport with
parents and co-workers. She is loved by the entire school community and goes the
extra mile when the need is presented. Her humble, loving, caring demeanor is an
example to the students and the entire school community. This quote sums up our
nominee, “To shine your brightest light is to be who you truly are.”
