Vivan Rhodes

Bagdad Elementary

When one thinks of a school related employee of the year, we automatically think of someone who we couldn't live without in our school.  Vivian definitely fits this description.  She is directly involved in the lives of 8 ESE PRE K children.  She is often the first person they see when they arrive on campus and she greets each young child with a hug and smile.  The students know she cares about them and a couple even call her "mom".  The students with whom she works have severe communication deficits.  She must encourage and demonstrate patience to the children.  She does it with a smile on her face.  We see the growth in the children.  Her assigned teacher will tell anyone he couldn’t make it without her.  She is willing to do whatever it takes to make the day go smoothly.  Sometimes this includes covering for the teacher during meetings, helping in another class because someone is out, having additional students in her assigned room, and adjusting arrival and dismissal plans due to inclement weather.  She is one of the most positive people I have met.  You never hear a word of complaint from her.  It is an honor to recognize Vivan.
