Dress Code 2012-2013

Students may not wear clothes or tattoos that show obscene or offensive language, drugs, tobacco, alcohol or advertisements for such products.

Students may not wear any color, clothing, insignia, emblem, jewelry, or other object in such a manner as to indicate membership or association with any secret organization or gang.

When selecting outer garments, please not the following rules:

All tops or shirts must be three inches wide (width of an index card) where crossing the shoulder.

All shorts or skirts must be within 5" (length of an index card) of the top of the knee.

A standard index card will be used as a constant measure in determining the appropriateness of a garment. The original design of a garment must meet these specifications.

Shirts with cut off sleeves are not allowed.

Students may not wear clothing that reveals undergarments or the midriff, nor blouses or shirts which are low-cut or see-through. Garments with buttons should be buttoned high enough to avoid being considered low-cut.

Armbands, wristbands, belts, clothing items or other items with heavy metal projections and chains, including wallet chains, are prohibited.

Students are strongly encouraged not to bring hats or other head coverings to school. Students are allowed to bring hats and/or sunglasses for protection from the sun during P.E., but these items are limited to use while participating at P.E. Hats and or sunglasses will not be permitted outside of the P.E. areas.

Students may not wear sunglasses inside the building without prior approval of the Principal or the Principal's designee.

Clothing may not be extreme in length, size, or style of wear. This includes tops, bottoms, jackets, sweaters, coats, pullovers, and accessories.

No spandex or other form fitting clothing is allowed.

Bottoms may not have legs that are wide in width nor long in length in that they drag the floor.

Pants are to be worn at the waist. No sagging pants. No undergarments showing or above pants.

Hair color other than natural tones and colors are prohibited. The school administration has the final word in this determination.

Any piercing or jewelry worn in a piercing that is deemed to be a distraction or safety hazard will be prohibited. Determination of such will be made by the school administration.
P.E. Required Dress
In order to receive credit for participation and dressing out during P.E. classes, students must have a solid white t-shirt and blue or black shorts with white trim. On cold weather days, students must have black sweat pants and a white sweat shirt. Athletic socks and shoes that are securely fastened to the foot are also required. The P.E. teacher makes the final determination concerning issues of appropriate dress. Students are allowed to bring hats and/or sunglasses for protection from the sun during P.E., but these items are limited to use while participating at P.E. Hats and/or sunglasses will not be allowed outside of P.E. areas.
